what a steaming pile of fucking shit that movie is...
it makes shrek 3 look like a masterpiece
good luck finding a part of this movie that DOESN'T use a cliche pointless pop culture refference and running gags that weren't funny the first time
and the new characters are LAME the
ogre(so gay it makes Stewie Griffin look straight i'm not a homophobe but why the stereotype humor?)
the giant(a COMPLETELY useless character he's just there for the sake of making a goodfellas refference)
Verushka who's Granny's jealous sister(it's as cliche as it gets)
and Hansel and Gretel the lamest villains of animation(aside from Dr.Doofenshmirtz from Phineas and Ferb or any of the villains from Johnny Test)the're too over the top for my liking
and they brought back some old characters but the're in there for like 2 minutes
Boingo(the main villain from the first movie)was just there to make a silence of the lambs joke
and Kirk(the woodsman from the first movie)didn't get alot of screen time
and the character animation is bland and sometimes the lip sync doesn't match
overall:THIS MOVIE IS THE WORST ANIMATED SEQUEL EVER!
I couldn't agree more. And to make it even worse, I was really looking forward to it! I mean, the first movie (to me at least) was so good! It was an interesting concept, it was cleaver, it had a good story, it was basically a really good movie! This one... oooh..... dear goodness gracious....... I was hiding my face in a pillow half the time because I was embarrassed for the people that made it... you know, like how you get embarrassed when a character starts singing an emotional song about their feelings? that kind of embarasment...
I have not seen the new film, but that was very much me (the pony) when looking at the trailer. I have no intentions of watching it, either. The Wolf in the trailer looked montone and absolutely boring - like Warburton was cast just so the character can sound a little funny instead of breathing life into the Wolf I loved from the first movie. Red is no longer voiced by Hathaway - no longer worth watching anyhow.
So, I like to make up little Hoodwinked stories in my head, knowing that they do go on and solve cases and do much more crazier and outlandish (and funnier) things than what I saw from the trailer.
The problem is the movie took too damn long to come out. I also missed Belushi voicing Kirk (Martin Short made him sound awful). When a movie goes into development limbo like this did, it can be a disaster. If this had been released a least a year after the first, it might have done better. Still, the biggest mistake was how the story and characters were handled. As far as a sequel would go, they could have handled it much better and picked a much more serious issue threatening.
My complaints from a review I did last year: #1 - Wolf was made into a completely bungling idiotic character who butted heads with Red. That was weak. If the end of the first movie had the group united as a team, why are they at odds with each other? And why was Wolf always screwing up? He's not exactly dense, especially considering he plans everything through carefully. #2 - Besides changing Kirk's actor (though I know Belushi's reasons for not coming back despite he wanted to), his screen time and involvement was minimal. I know he wasn't technically part of the agency, but he should have worked with Red and company more. #3 - The movie needed a more convincing villain; they could have picked a much more iconic fairy tale antagonist. I'm not sure how they thought turning Hansel and Gretel bad would work.
*picked a much more serious issue threatening the fairy tale world.
That's what makes me sad. I watch Hoodwinked over and over, whenever it comes on CN, because it's still that damn good after all these years, but this sequel just makes me a sad panda.
